What is better to correct the ptosis of the breasts?
What is the best method to correct breast ptosis or loss due to pregnancy weight? Breast implants or breast lift? Are there other alternatives such as fat injections?
Hi, I’m a plastic surgeon in Houston and I can say that this answer really depends on the characteristics of the breast tissue before surgery. Implants add volume, it is. They do not move magically nipples upward or downward sagging breasts “happy.” The only way to lift your nipples and breast tissue is a breast lift, sometimes together with an increase. Look in the mirror are the nipples at the crease under your breast – or are lower. If they are lower, you may need a lift for a more complete superior. Increase your breasts with a significant amount of tissue under the cap will only have low breast and probably only make you look heavy. Fat injections are used sometimes to help correct minor defects or asymmetries in the breast, but using enough fat to give you an enlarged view is fraught with problems, including issues mammography and the potential response nodular breasts. The best source for a final review by a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I hope this helps R. Lee Steely MD FACS
